But only three of the mentioned are independent countries. It would be surprising to me if Georgia will let South Ossetia and Abkhazia join.

How is Georgia irrelevant? South Ossetia and Abkhazia is a part of Georgia.

And the last time they tried to prove that point they got curb stomped with no support from their 'allies'. The Georgian War is what made them irrelevant.

They were backed by The US. But of course the allies could've done more to help Georgia.
