Remember what I said before...

... In the "What does the Tea Party moment mean to you?" thread? How I said that while I opposed them politicly I supported their existence as it opened up political dialogue and would result in a leftist reaction? I love it when I'm right!

I give you the Coffee Party!

I thought that was Starbucks! Not sure that I like the Coffee Party. What is there point exactly, perhaps just an anti-dote for the Tea Party?

Consensus seeking rather then obstructionist. Anti-nonfictional gov't rather then anti-gov't. Oh and a place for the Revolutionary Left to counter the Revolutionary Right represented by the Tea Party, hence the name.

In other words, yes.

I think I prefer the Tea Party. But the civilized version where they discuss taxes and protest mismanagement of Government finances.

Well you're a Rightist.

Same cause, different approach. Quite a few Tea Partiers (more polite and so much cooler then teabagger imo) are active on their forums even.

I thought the Coffee Party were centrists, dedicated to ensuring fair taxes, and their productive utilisation?

Officially, yes but consider a few things. 1. the gov't supporters have the Dems/Repubs and a bunch of minor 3rd parties. The Revolutionary Centralists, which is to say the middle of the road independents that think the gov't is messed up, have the LP. The Revolutionary Right have the TP. The only voter segment that needed a platform was the Revolutionary Left. Thus the CP really only has 1 major pool of recruits. It'll likely moderate as TP members not happy with the rhetoric realize both groups have the same grievances and defect. As of now however, it's a bunch of angry but cool-headed liberals/social democrats/socialists/communists.

Could it be that the Coffee Party is just an anti Tea Party?

Well, so far as i'm aware, it was originally dreamed up as a response, wasn't it?

Indirectly perhaps. To be truthful, I'm not sure what the Coffee Party really wants to do with themselves and wonder whether they know either. Its name does not sound very serious.
