The president offered no suggestions as to how he is going so solve the debt and deficit, with the one exception that again the president appears to be a one-trick pony here: it’s taxes, taxes, taxes

Offered no suggestions...nor has anyone in his Party lifted a finger to address the growing crisis that is our unfunded mandates/ entitlements.

His SOTU speech was attended by the mother of a 15 year old girl who was sadly shot and killed in Chicago. The city that the President calls home. That's been an absolute tragedy of gang violence and crime for decades and yet it takes some children being killed in Connecticut to get anyone interested in gun violence. How does anyone expect Obama to solve any crisis or come up with any answers or show anything resembling leadership. His own city is a sewer.

I agree, this President is a one trick pony.

Last time I checked, the House (under Repub control) is in charge of spending. I think you're blaming the wrong party...

Bush came to power in 2000 with a Repub Congress. The Dems took a bare majority in '04. In '06 the Dems seized near absolute power in the Senate but made only small gains in the House. As I said, the Dems never had total control, the Repubs do.

David.....Pelosi became Speaker of the House as a result of Democratic sweep of the 2006 midterm elections. She was the Speaker during the 2008 economic crisis, Bush still gets every blame for that. Hate the game, don't hate the player......the Dems had the house in 2006...lost it on the 2010 mid terms where Democrats were crushed. During the 4 years they dominated the House, spending went berserk, you're telling me this was House Democrats fault? I just want to be sure, because Obama always claims he inheritied all of this. He was a Senator.....during a Dem majority in the House(and it wasn't a "bare majority" either)...and you seem to be trying to convince me the spending during those 4 years falls on Dems. Correct?

See, the difference is the Dem House was split, nether party had the votes to act unilaterally. The Repub House on the other hand is as staunchly Repub as the Senate is Dem.

David, the House didn't take a "bare majority" in 2004 as you previously claimed. The House took a seriously in defiance against President Bush huge majority in 2006 under Nancy Pelosi and wasn't 'split' in fact acted unilaterally many many times.

Today's House is staunchly Republican.....in absolute opposition to Obama's wholesale policy of expanding the federal government's size and scope.

I honestly don't know where you get your information on years the Democrats had power or their 'bare majorities." They passed the stimulus, Obamacare(without the Senate having a word to say after Scott Brown was elected in special election), they shoved every shovel unready no job policy, pork barrell projects, bills packed with earmarks(remember that one time word Dems once deplored), and his plans are for much more.

Are we talking about the same thing....you seem confused.

Despite the fact that I am progressive/liberal, I am no fan of the president's and did not vote for him in the latest election. (I voted for Jill Stein) His SOTU speech was full of the rhetoric he's good at making but did not touch on many topics such as the dire need for immediate reforms on Wall Street.

Your analogy in regards to Chicago, is non sequitur. I've lived in Wisconsin since I was 13 and people here generally always refer to Chicago as a crime ridden hell hole, regardless of who's in power. Apples and Oranges.

Mitt Romney's state of Massachusetts was relevant. Your reforms on Wall Street and Romney's closeness to it all was relevant. Your record in your own home district is always relevant is never a non sequitur.....unless it's Obama. The city of Chicago where he community organized. His ACORN organization. His union buddies, the streets of Chicago, it all doesn't touch him now. His past doesn't ever seem to be an issue, we still don't know what grades he received, they believe whatever he says or tells them to believe.

Wikipedia shows the last time was in 1931. Is Chicago reaping all of the benefits of the liberal/Progressive utopian thinking all these years?

As was New Orleans. Katrina did nothing but blow the skirt up over the head of N.O. revealing the corruption, government dependency, and actual state of affairs of a city that had been under Democrat governance for decades.

This city blamed Bush, and yet re-elected Ray Nagin to Mayor.

You cannot make this up....you just can't.

"Correlation does not imply causation." While I admit fact is true, it is also equally as true that the criminal element took root in the Chicago/Illinois Democratic machine merely out of convenience and opportunity. Without proof, one way or another, this is speculation.

I'm not a Democrat nor democratic apologist. (and I disdain the Teapublican party) I have found both groups are easily seduced by big money. Neither organization holds the higher moral ground.

This would be your opinion, which considering the hyperbole you use in stating it, I would not be inclined dissuade you from believing. While the left, particularly Mr. Obama, employs a mellifluous but equivocatory manner of public speaking (sounds real good but is very short on specifics) the right's demagoguery prey's upon people's fear and quite frankly, their lack of knowledge about reality. Of the two, the latter is far more dangerous to this nation.

Up until I was 12, I was born and raised in a small bible belt city in Indiana. One could call me a product of that community but in reality, since then, I have shed the hypocrisy of that existence and have forged my own way in life...which is an antithesis of what they believe there.

So too with Barack Obama. He was able to rise above the cesspool of criminal life in Chicago/Illinois and while that may be his home town, he is not a product of that environment or has any culpability associated with it.
